U.S. Highway 83/South Broadway in Minot is expected to shift to the southbound lanes in a head-to-head configuration as the northbound lanes close for ongoing culvert replacement work.

The exit ramp from eastbound U.S. 2 onto U.S. 83/South Broadway is expected to reopen for motorists at that time. Left and right turns will be allowed off the exit ramp. Temporary traffic signals are in place.

The Highway 83 culvert replacement project began Aug. 4, and is expected to be completed this November. The project upgrades will enhance drainage, improve safety, and extend the life of the roadway.

Motorists are advised to stay alert, follow signs, and watch for equipment and workers when traveling through the work zone.

Slow down in work Zones - work zones include:

East Central Ave: Between 7th Street NE and 8th Street SE: Closed

4th Ave and 7th Street SE: Closed

20th Ave SW: Traffic speeds reduced and one lane traffic is in effect.

24th Ave SW and 25th Ave SW by Dakota Square Mall: Closed

University Ave: Road Closed _Watermain replacement.

Third Street Bridge: Northeast Minot The southbound lane of the bridge will remain open at this time, but the northbound lane will be closed until repairs are completed.

Water Main Replacements

-University Avenue from 8th St NW to 12th St NW.

-1st Ave SW: Road Closed

-2nd Ave SW: Road Closed

-10th Avenue NW from 8th St NW to 11th St NW

-9th St NW, 10th St NW, and 11th St NW between University Ave and 10th Ave NW

-13th St SW

There will be traffic impacts during this project. Please use caution when driving through the area this summer. There will be a lot of heavy equipment and crew members on this project, which has a substantial completion date of late fall.

The Puppy Dog Coulee project will replace nearly 1,600 feet of failing storm sewers with new box culverts to the west, north, and east of Dakota Square Mall.

Phases 1 and 2 - The new culverts have been installed near the intersection of 10th St SW/24th Ave SW on the east side of the mall, near Best Buy and Wings and Rings. The reconstructed roadway is now open to traffic.

Phase 3 - Culverts have been set in place north of the McDonald’s near the mall and the roadway has been rebuilt. The reconstructed roadway is now open to traffic.

Phase 4, 5, and 6 - Work continues on the road between Target and the Dakota Plaza strip mall to the west of Target. Crews are installing pilings as part of a shoring system to ensure safety while the underground work takes place. The intersection of 24th Ave SW and the Mall Loop Road is now closed to traffic.
