The North Dakota Department of Transportation has temporarily closed the eastbound ramp at the U.S. Highway 2 and U.S. Highway 83 interchange in Minot due to emergency culvert repairs. The ramp is expected to reopen within two weeks. During this time, motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Water Main Replacements

-University Avenue from 8th St NW to 12th St NW.

-10th Avenue NW from 8th St NW to 11th St NW

-9th St NW, 10th St NW, and 11th St NW between University Ave and 10th Ave NW

Crews have begun the work of installing temporary water lines to residences and other locations in this area. Major work will start once temporary water is installed and operational.

There will be traffic impacts during this project. Please use caution when driving through the area this summer. There will be a lot of heavy equipment and crew members on this project, which has a substantial completion date of late fall.

The Puppy Dog Coulee project will replace nearly 1,600 feet of failing storm sewers with new box culverts to the west, north, and east of Dakota Square Mall.

The northeast entrance/exit road to the Dakota Square Mall property has reopened to traffic as work progresses on the Puppy Dog Coulee project.

Phases 1 and 2 near Buffalo Wings and Rings and Best Buy included new concrete box culverts under the road. The road has been rebuilt and repaved, and has reopened to vehicle traffic with temporary stop signs and barrels to mark lanes. Permanent pavement markings and stop signs will be installed in the near future. Work continues on other project phases. Culverts have been set in place as part of Phase 3, which is north of the McDonald’s near the mall, and crews are installing new concrete curb and gutter. New pavement will be placed next, beginning later this week and possibly into next week.

-Phase 3 will install new box culverts on 22nd Ave SW just north of McDonald’s. A section of 22nd Ave SW will be closed during this phase.

- Phases 4-9 will install new box culverts and other infrastructure on a section of 16th St SW, a portion of 24th Ave SW, and on a section of Dakota Square Road west of Target. Work will also take place between Hotel Revel and Easter Seals. Traffic access will be maintained on 16th St SW when work is done on that phase, but a portion of Dakota Square Road will be closed during several phases. The project has a substantial completion date of July 31, 2026, with final completion by Oct. 2, 2026. Wagner Construction is the general contractor. The culverts convey storm water from west of Minot, under 16th St SW, through the area of the mall, and to the Highway 2 & 52 ditch.
