2022 Workplace Trends!

Change in the workplace is coming if it isn’t already here. Career experts, a behavioral health psychologist, and others shared with “Pure Wow” four workplace trends they say are “fast emerging” into 2022 and it looks like it’s going to be a good year for employees.

  • Gig employees will grow in numbers -The number of gig employees, contractors, and freelancers grew by 34% from 2020 to 2021. Some predict that freelance workers will make up more than half the workforce by 2023.
  • The four-day workweek is coming- Companies across the globe have already begun the transition to a shorter work week with results showing improved employee wellbeing, work-life balance, and productivity.
  • So are mandatory mental health days- 61% of workers reported feeling unable to work due to mental health challenges in 2021 with fewer than 40% revealing they actually took the time off they needed. Expect leadership to put more of an emphasis on mental health days and even for HR to declare mental health days to be included as part of sick days.
  • Industries will better support parents- Parents have been advocating for a balance between work and family and it’s starting to pay off in the form of shorter workdays, better leave policies, subsidized cost of childcare, and flexible work hours.
