You might feel too old for trick-or-treating, but that doesn’t mean celebrating Halloween is off the table. If you want to get spooky this year, but aren’t really into venturing out and dealing with traffic and drunk people in costumes, there are ways to celebrate at home.
If you and your boo are spending the night in this Halloween, here are some date ideas for a scary good time:
- Scary Movie Marathon. There are tons of Halloween hits available on streaming services this year, so queue up all your favorites to binge all night long, whether that’s “Scream,” “Halloween,” or something more silly like “Scooby-Doo.”
- Make your house haunted. Whether you live in an actual house or an apartment, you can hit up the 99-cent store for spooky decorations to transform it into a haunted house. Even if it’s just your bedroom, try hanging up fake cobwebs and place gravestones around for some Halloween role play.
- Break out the Ouija board. If you’re superstitious, this might not be the activity for you. But you also don’t have to use the Ouija board to talk to ghosts. Try asking it if you and your boo are meant to be.
- Carve pumpkins. This is a classic, but very messy activity. Make sure you lay down some plastic and are ready for a cleanup afterwards. You can also make it interesting by having a pumpkin carving contest that either you or a friend judges. Try challenging each other to carve a certain design, or transform a pumpkin into your favorite celebrity (or each other)!
- Make Boo-zy cocktails. If you bring the bar to you, you won’t have to deal with all those dressed up drunks. Try looking up some Halloween-themed cocktails, like Vampire Martinis or Monster Mules, that’ll hit the spooky spot.
