Tips For Better Working Relationships With The People You Work With.

  • Be Reliable: If you want to score more points in the reliability category, you should make it your goal to provide info quickly and with a good amount of detail when the people you work with ask for it. But it doesn’t stop there. You also need to make yourself into the type of person who follows up to make sure they got what they needed from you. Basically, just treat your colleagues like you would an unruly customer and you’ll be golden.
  • Be A Resource: Don’t shy away from a chance to lend a hand and don’t be afraid to ask people questions either. If you want people to see you as a resource, you’ll need to establish yourself as someone who can help them with their goals. The only way to do that is to understand the obstacles standing in their way, and the best way to do that is to listen more and speak less.
  • Remove Obstacles: Is there anything better than someone telling you they’ve taken something off your plate at work? Pay it forward. Proactively start offering to help remove the obstacles. And don’t worry. It doesn’t have to be some huge gesture or a giant time suck on your end. It could be as simple as reaching out to someone who is struggling, talking about their goals, and offering a suggestion or two on what they could do differently.
