Do you often think when shopping for the perfect gift, that everyone should just buy for themselves? I do, as I always seem to find what I want during this busy shopping season, which may not be what others would like!
Here are some tips to avoid those gift-giving mistakes!
-Don't choose what you would like: Some folks just really overestimate their taste and think everyone else should be into whatever they’re into. When you’re gift shopping and trying to imagine how your recipient would feel receiving something, taking into account their unique tastes.
-Ignoring their wish list: Why some people make things harder on themselves and make gift-giving some creative endeavor is anyone’s guess, but here’s a hot tip. You don’t know what they want better than they do themselves. Stick to the list!
-Do you feel like you need to buy a different gift for each person on your list? Turns out that desire to be original is more hurtful than helpful. Research shows “over individuating” leads us to pass up gifts that would be better liked by one or more of our loved ones. So this year, don’t overthink it. If you’ve got two friends or family members that would both love the same gift, just buy it for both of them.
