Hosting A Virtual Thanksgiving? Here's Some Tips!

Who would have thought back in March we would still be dealing with Covid-19, and in North Dakota the number's continue to climb, so what does that mean for our Thanksgiving gatherings? Virtual is the recommended way to go .. Here are some ideas to make sure you "virtual" Thanksgiving is one to remember.

  • Recipe Swap - - Spice things up with a recipe swap. Your group text is pretty much guaranteed to be blowing up with links to recipes all the way to the big day. And if you're not ready to make your Grandma’s secret recipe public info yet, may we recommend sharing a specialty cocktail idea that you all can cheers over your cams.
  • Cooking Together-- At one point your Zoomsgiving is going to be like a reality cooking show starring all your family and there’s nothing wrong with that. Prop your laptop or phone on your fridge, crank up the volume, and start preparing your feast while chatting with your loved ones about what they're making.
  • Get Grubbing -- While the food is cooking, make sure your table and decorations are ready for broadcast. Use all those Zoom lighting skills you’ve been building during your work meetings to make sure everyone has a beautiful view of your food and you chomping it down. Start the feast with a toast and then if dinner conversation is lacking, or the sounds of Uncle chewing are too much, you could always go around the call and ask what everyone’s thankful for.
  • After Dinner Activities - - Once dinner is done, why not tell everyone to grab a piece of pie and get ready for a game or a movie? There’s plenty of free websites that have popped up for you all to play together or if that's too complicated, you start screen sharing a movie instead.T hanksgiving isn’t over until everyone is in a food coma after all.
