- An armored truck’s side door flew open while it was driving down an Atlanta interstate, spilling $175,000 onto the road.
- Passing drivers quickly scrambled to grab the cash, but police warned it was a crime and they could face charges.
- Now some honest people are beginning to return the missing money.
A total of $4,600 was brought to the Dunwoody Police Department — including $2,100 by one man alone, according to Sgt. Robert Parsons.
“The news said that it’s theft — it’s stealing — it’s a crime and you must turn it [in] so I have to,” Randrell Lewis, who returned the large sum
A total of $175,000 spilled out of a Garda World truck on the highway. The Dunwoody Police Department is hoping more good Samaritans will walk through the door.
“There is still a lot of money out there. We are waiting for more people to just come through the door with it but it hasn’t happened yet,” Parsons told The Post.
The department is also warning people hoping to find more money to stop visiting the area where it happened.
“We have received reports off and on all day about cars blocking the roadway searching for money on I-285. THERE IS NO MORE MONEY! Please stop. Many thanks,”read a Facebook post from the Dunwoody Police Department.
But some people are still keeping hope alive.
