Congrats To These Ward Country 4-H Winner!

 PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 1/28/2019   Nineteen Ward County 4-H members traveled to Watford City for the Badlands Roundup Archery Match. The match was held at the Rough Rider Event Center on Saturday, January 26th. Categories are split up by age and type of bow the individual uses. Ages include Beginner, who are ages 8 to 10; Junior, ages 11 to 13; and Senior, ages 14 to 18. There are two types of bows, Barebow and Freestyle. Barebow have no sights or releases. If a bow has either a sight or release they are put into the Freestyle category. 


The Masters category is for those who are at least 14 years old and have already competed at the National contest.Winning the Masters division was Ethan Myers (Minot) with a score of 299; a nearly perfect score. E. Myers was the only one from Ward County competing in the Masters division.Receiving seventh place in the Senior Freestyle division was Tate Novodvorsky (Douglas) with a score of 270. Also competing in Senior Freestyle were Kaden Korgel (Minot), and Aaron Bahnsen (Minot).Competing in Senior Bare bow division were K. Korgel, E. Myers, and T. Novodvorsky. K. Korgel placed fifth with as scoreof 257.In the Junior Freestyle division, Ward County was represented by Karter Myers (Minot), Layne Korgel (Minot), JacobSaunders (Minot), Miranda Novodvorsky (Douglas), Peyton Helwig (Kenmare), Teagan Strilcov (Minot), and Clay and Claire Fegley (Berthold).  Winning Junior Freestyle division was K. Myers with a score of 144, fourth place was awarded to  L. Korgel with a score of 135 and fifth place was awarded to Saunders with a score of 131. The team consisting of K.Myers, L. Korgel, Saunders, and M. Novodvorsky won the Junior Freestyle team award.


Competing in the Junior Barebow division were L. Korgel, K. Myers, M. Novodvorsky, and Brooklyn Blooms (Carpio). L.Korgel placed third individually with a score of 240.In the Beginner Freestyle division, Ward County was represented by Olivia Johnson (Minot) and Cole Whitcher (Minot).Johnson earned fifth place with a score of 102.In Beginner Barebow division, Ward County members included Brynlee Bloms (Carpio), Cheyenne Degenstein (Berthold),Baylee Bahnsen (Minot), and Ryia Beeter (Minot).  Brynlee Bloms received seventh place with her score of 167. Degenstein placed ninth with a score of 152.

Ward County 4-H is hosting the Northwest District Archery Match on February 2nd at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds in 4-H Hall.
