What's Everyone's Favorite Winter Olympic Sport?

  • A new Harris Poll finds that 63% of Americans plan to watch the Winter Olympic games
  • 58% of adults say their favorite sport to watch is figure skating, followed by ski jumping (49%) and bobsledding (48%)
  • Americans are least familiar with the Nordic Combined (64%), and Skeleton (54%) 

The Winter Olympics are well underway, and there’s no doubt a lot of Americans are tuning in to catch all the action. But not all Winter Olympic sports attract a huge audience, and there are certainly some sports that are way more popular than others..  

A new Harris Poll set out to discover which Winter Olympic sports are the most popular with Americans, and let’s just say there’s a good reason NBC devotes a lot of TV time to figure skating. Overall, 63% of Americans plan to watch the Winter Olympic games, and 58% of adults say their favorite sport to watch is figure skating, followed by:

  • Ski jumping (49%)
  • Bobsledding (48%)
  • Speed skating (47%)
  • Snowboarding (43%) 

As for the Olympic sports Americans are least familiar with, 64% of Americans are clueless about the Nordic Combined, while 54% don’t know much about Skeleton.
