- Introduced six years ago, the charitable shopping day has become a philanthropic phenomenon
- The issue this year for tens of thousands of nonprofits is how to stand out on Giving Tuesday
- World Vision has participated in Giving Tuesday since its inception and it has become its third most important fundraising day
Today is Giving Tuesday. A lot like Cyber Monday, but today is about donating to charity this holiday season. In it’s sixth year since it’s inception Giving Tuesday has become a philanthropic phenomenon.
The biggest issue for most charities on Giving Tuesday is how to stand out amongst the sea of great charitable causes. But with all the publicity surrounding the day, “you’d be crazy not to try it,” says Nancy Gianni of Gigi’s Playhouse-Down Syndrome Achievement Centers. Plus “it’s an opportunity for people to see their donations in action.”
World Vision International, a provider of services to poor children, has been participating in Giving Tuesday since year one and now it’s the organizations third most important fundraising day.
