Last February, Lady Gaga's dog walker, Ryan Fischer, sustained multiple gunshot wounds while out walking the pop star's three French bulldogs. The assailants managed to kidnap two of the three pups during the attack. Fortunately, Fischer made a full physical recovery, while both dogs were later found and returned.

On Monday (August 16), Fischer shared an update on his recovery. Since his physical wounds have healed, Fischer has set on a cross-country journey to help himself heal from the mental and emotional scars of the traumatizing incident. Fischer planned to take a six-month trip throughout the United States in "a quasi-reliable 1991 Ford Falcon" he named Trudy. He planned to visit "communities that support the process of growing from trauma," including retreat centers, trauma programs, queer healers, creatives, and spiritual leaders. Two months into his sabbatical, however, Trudy broke down and Fischer has set up a GoFundMe in order to purchase a new van.

"I have set up this GoFundMe page in supporting a van purchase, travel expenses and welcome all input on retreats for trauma throughout the country as well as queer spiritual leaders and healers, and how best to highlight and share with you along the way," Fischer explained in his GoFundMe. "I love you, and thank you for all the ways you have supported me throughout; I truly can’t wait to see how the next step of this journey unfolds for us all."

A source close to Fischer previously revealed to Radar Online that, although Fischer remains friendly with Gaga, he simply needed to leave Los Angeles following his recovery from the robbery. Before heading out on his healing journey, Fischer headed to his New York hometown. "He is still close with Gaga but needed to get away from the scene of the crime and recover with his friends around him back in his low-key life in his small town," the source explained.

Following the attack, Gaga shared her love and appreciation for Fischer on Instagram. "I continue to love you Ryan Fischer, you risked your life to fight for our family. You’re forever a hero," she wrote.
