Attacking Squirrels? Yes-Residents In Queens, New York Watch Out!

Residents in Queens, New York evidently have angered their neighborhood squirrels. Residents claim they have not been provoking them, but something has turned these cute little tree jumping, nut gathers to turn into attacking squirrels. Multiple residents are complaining about being attacked by wild squirrels. These highly aggressive squirrels are not being provoked according to witnesses and nobody seems to know why these squirrels are attacking people. They have been randomly attacking people-attacking is anywhere from jumping onto them to scratching and biting aggressively. NYC Health records do not show any positive cases of rabies among squirrels in 2020, and there haven't been any confirmed infections recorded in the last 10 years. Still - no one knows why squirrels in this specific neighborhood are attacking people. There have reportedly been around 20 random squirrel attacks since Thanksgiving, all unprovoked, so if you see these Queen residents walking down their sidewalks and streets with shovels and bats, it's to fight off the attacking squirrels.
